The South Osborne Permaculture Workers' Co-op is a group of Winnipeg urban farmers growing fresh, local, chemical-free produce in South Osborne.  Founded in 2015, their aim as ‘eco-preneurs’ is to show that sustainable urban farming can be a viable way to make a living, and to provide a model for other communities to borrow from and make their own. Each member of SOPWC contributes 100 hours of volunteer time each year to SSOCC.

SOPWC farms and shares 1 hectare in the South Osborne Commons. They practice ‘permaculture’ which means: caring for the earth, caring for people and ensuring that everyone who contributes has the opportunity to benefit from the harvest.  This group has a low carbon footprint is proud to say that the produce actually heals the soil it comes from.

30% of the food grown by the co-op is shared with volunteers in the Garden Clubs,  given away as donations or served as the perennial Harvest Dinner. MMmmm!

The other 70% is sold to local restaurants to compensate our members. As these spaces are public, we welcome you to visit and see what we are doing.
