The Project

What We’re Building

South Osborne Commons is a community-led project to transform the Churchill Park United Church building at 525 Beresford Avenue in Winnipeg into a welcoming, multi-use community hub. At its heart will be a licensed child care centre, alongside spaces for wellness services, community programs, gathering, and worship.

The Commons is designed to support everyday life in the neighbourhood — offering care for children, connection for families, and flexible space for local organizations, practitioners, community groups, and faith communities. Plans also include shared amenities such as multi-purpose rooms, a community kitchen, and space for cultural, creative, and recreational activities.

Rooted in community collaboration, the project brings together local partners, families, and organizations to create a space that reflects the needs, values, and strengths of South Osborne — now and into the future.

Timeline

Planning and design work for South Osborne Commons is well underway, with strong community and partner involvement shaping the project.

Construction is currently anticipated to begin in summer 2026. The licensed child care centre is expected to open in late 2027, with the community kitchen, gathering spaces, and worship space becoming available in phases beginning mid-2027.

As a community-led project, timelines may evolve as funding and detailed design progress. We’re committed to sharing updates along the way.
